Calming Winds offers Therapeutic Drum sessions with the Tambour Unity drum where you experience a unique session of gentle drumming, while you lay comfortably on a massage table and the drum is locked in above you. It’s been called a “massage with sound”. The large dimension of the Tambour Unity drum allows it’s frequencies to be distributed evenly and its unique vibrational energy helps the sound reach the core of each cell within the body, helping bring the body to homeostasis. This introductory session allows you to experience this type of healing session in a shorter amount of time. Each session is combined with Reiki for a total of 30 minutes. If you want to experience a full session, those sessions are held for 60 minutes. Calming Winds is certified in therapeutic drumming. Drumming is an ancient approach to healing that uses rhythm. Shamans all over the world have used therapeutic drumming for thousands of years to help physical, mental and spiritual health. In addition, it’s a tool to use for self-expression. Drumming has been studied and they have shown that it can induce deep relaxation, lower blood pressure, reduce stress and help with pain. A recent medical research study led by Barry Bittman, MD. a renowned cancer expert found in his study that drumming increases cancer-killing cells that can help the body combat cancers in addition to other viruses. According to Dr. Bittman, “drumming tunes our biology, orchestrates our immunity and enables healing to begin”. Dr. Christine Northrup, talks about 10 benefits of drumming. Drumming can have many effects on the your health. Some of the benefits are it can make you happy because it releases endorphins, enkephalins and Alpha waves which are associated with well being and euphoria. One study, found that one hour long drumming session revealed a reversal of stress hormones. It can also help serve as a distraction from pain as it promotes the production of endogenous opiates which are the body's own morphine like painkillers. It can create a sense of connectedness when people join circles, there is the opportunity for synchronicity. Drumming puts you in the present moment and is very grounding. I highly encourage you to read her full article on all the benefits. Tonia uses drumming in her own personal journey and emphasizes it’s a key to her own self-expression, to help with stress, to enhance a sense empowerment and assists with grounding her firmly to the present moment.
